Kids and families will take to the streets of Weyburn to trick or treat, and the Weyburn Police Service is reminding local drivers to drive cautiously and be extra vigilant in watching for pedestrian traffic.
Deputy Chief Shane St. John specifically addresses the position of the sun in the evening, saying it can impact visibility.
“Some kids get out pretty early and that sun is down right in most driver's eyesight when you're heading west. So just really be on the lookout when the sun's going down.”
He also notes kids will be out later into the evening as well, so it's important to be watchful for people walking in the dark, especially near crosswalks.
Pedestrians should also take measures to be as visible as possible; St. John recommends reflective clothing or glow sticks.
