PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- One of the two people shot in Central Peoria Sunday night has died.

Officers with the Peoria Police Department were called at 8:18 p.m. to the 3200 block of North Isabell Avenue to a report of a person shot, said police spokeswoman Semone Roth.

When officers arrived, they initially didn't find any victims. But a few minutes later police were notified, two people with gunshot wounds were found inside a car that had crashed into a traffic sign near the intersection of Isabell and West Merle Lane.

The driver, a 20-year-old man, who was shot in the chest, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries and died at the hospital. The official cause of death and the man's name will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.
