NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A string of serious pedestrian crashes involving the NYPD is under scrutiny.
One NYC law firm is taking on the department for what it calls a pattern of negligence by officers putting public safety at risk.
Lamar Hollins was hit with such force by an NYPD vehicle that bystanders believed he was dead. And so did Hollins. "I really did, honest and true, didn’t believe I was here,” Hollins said.
But the 31-year-old father survived and is now suing for his suffering. “You hear vroom, and by the time I notice, I’m trying to run out of the way,” he said.
Surveillance video from Aug. 25 shows him and another pedestrian in the middle of the crosswalk on Jamaica Avenue, without having the light.
