Emporia is at a crossroads. Our community is fragile, and with the upcoming city commission election, we are hoping it will mark the beginning of renewed trust and momentum after years of division. What we need now is collaboration — leadership grounded in listening, not lecturing.
That’s why the behavior of one city commission candidate should concern us all. Throughout Tyler Curtis’s tenure as city commissioner and throughout this campaign season, he has been connected to a pattern of online conduct that doesn’t reflect the transparency, teamwork, or civility that our city needs right now.
Post after post on Facebook, in what he frames as an effort to “educate” the community, Curtis’s comments often stir division and fuel controversy, while spreading unfounded accusations.
