Former NFL running back Adrian Peterson was sleeping in the driver’s seat of his car, with his engine running, when police found him before his DWI arrest in Houston on Sunday, as seen in photos obtained by TMZ .

Peterson, 40, is hunched over behind the wheel of his black SUV while at a Sugar Land, Texas gas station, as seen in the images.

Someone at the gas station, who took photos of Peterson, told TMZ that the former 2012 NFL MVP was was holding his phone in his hand as he dozed off with the vehicle running.

Police reportedly took Peterson out of the vehicle and he later failed field sobriety tests.

A gun was also found inside his car, according to TMZ.
