None of us want to go to court over a broken doorknob or leaky faucet. But the reality is, too many Duluth renters wait for weeks, months, or years to get common repairs in our homes — and existing tools aren’t enough to ensure timely repairs.

As Duluth renters, we know firsthand how frustrating and dangerous it can be when small repairs go unaddressed. One of us laid awake at night for a month worried about a broken lock on the back door. One of us watched mold spread in a pantry because of a leak in the roof — only to be told that the management company was “working on it” for six months. One of us had to wait two years to take a hot shower after a long day of work because of a broken valve.
