KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Salvation Army of Knoxville announced the launch of an emergency food campaign to combat rising need.

As the government shutdown continues, the Trump Administration announced that food aid will not go out November 1. Now, the Salvation Army of Knoxville, which serves Knox, Blount, Sevier, Anderson, Cocke and Campbell counties, is launching a new program called "Feed Hope. Share Love." The nonprofit said it has seen three to five times the amount of food assistance requests in recent weeks, calling this a dramatic rise.
