Glasgow councillors are set to call for discounted energy bills for people on benefits, low incomes and others in need.
SNP local politician Donna McGill will also demand that standing charges are reduced for everyone and removed for those with a prepayment meter.
She will bring a motion to full council on Thursday calling for a statutory social tariff for energy.
A tariff of this type, which would typically help those with disabilities, in fuel poverty or on benefits, does not currently exist in the UK.
