Rain is expected this afternoon as a low-pressure system tracks through the region. Showers and storms will start to push into our southern Arkansas communities mid-afternoon. The rain increases in coverage through the evening before tapering off around midnight. A few storms may be strong to severe. The main threats are damaging wind gusts and hail, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Also, watch for heavy downpours. Behind the system, cooler and drier air rushes in off a breezy and gusty northwest wind. Highs will reach the lower 60s on Wednesday. Some areas may struggle to climb out of the upper 50s. Overnight lows for most of the week will be in the 40s. Highs return to the 70s over the weekend.
