A Fredericksburg man accused of sexually assaulting and robbing a woman at gunpoint in a Woodbridge commuter lot was arrested a week after the terrifying encounter, authorities announced.

Prince William County Police said Ibrahim Sohail, 22, was taken into custody on Tuesday, Oct. 28, by the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the Oct. 21 assault and robbery that left a 21-year-old woman traumatized.

Investigators said the woman had arranged to meet an unknown man in the 14800 block of Cloverdale Avenue, who picked her up and drove to the commuter lot on Telegraph Road.

Once there, the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm, sexually assaulted her, stole her phone, and electronically transferred money to his account before abandoning her in Stafford County.

Police announced that Sohail has been charged with:

  • Abduction with intent to defile;
  • Aggravated sexual assault;
  • Robbery;
  • Forcible sodomy;
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

He remains in custody, with a court date pending, according to police.

No injuries were reported.

The arrest comes after a weeklong search that began when deputies in Stafford County alerted Prince William County Police following the victim’s report early on October 21.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Prince William County Police Department.
