A young dad accused of murdering a man in a Birmingham shooting told the court he was 'rolling a cannabis joint' when the fatal shots were fired.

Gavin Parry, 31, was shot dead at an industrial unit on Western Road in Winson Green at around 5.30pm on April 13, 2021. Dante Kalsi, aged 28, from Erdington, is currently on trial for his murder - which he denies.

Co-accused Remell Bailey, 28, from Handsworth , also denies murder. Both pleaded not guilty to an alternative charge of manslaughter as well as perverting the course of justice.

Kalsi is serving prison time until 2038 for a previous shooting and a robbery, Birmingham Crown Court heard today, October 28.
