Winnipeggers will see higher water and sewer bills over the next two years, following a hefty hike this year. A city news release confirmed that for a typical household of four, the average water and sewer bill will rise by about $44 in 2026 and another $68 in 2027. That works out to rate increases of 2.8% next year and 4.2% the following year.
The upcoming rate increases are tied to funding the city’s largest infrastructure project — the $3-billion redevelopment of the North End Water Pollution Control Centre (NEWPCC). The plant handles roughly 70% of Winnipeg’s wastewater and is undergoing a complete upgrade to modernize equipment, meet federal environmental standards, and improve nutrient removal.
