APEX, N.C. (WNCN) -- Developers and town leaders on Tuesday turned the ceremonial dirt at a groundbreaking event for Summit House, a 291-unit luxury apartment complex in Apex that will feature two five-story mid-rise buildings along with restaurants and shops.
Summit House is part of the massive $7 billion Veridea development, a master-planned 1,2000-acre project that will also include N.C. Children’s Hospital and a Wake Tech Community College campus.
"We all know everyone wants to move to Apex," said Apex Mayor Jacques Gilbert. "It's the people of Apex that keep the small-town vibe. What you're creating here is an opportunity to bring that all together. To have a welcoming community, we have to welcome people in, and that's what you guys are doing.
