A 65-year-old woman is in serious condition after she was involved in a crash along Northbound I-95 in the work zone near I-295 Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred just before 5 p.m. along I-95 northbound in the lane shift in front of the Hope Center approaching the I-295 split.

Paramedics found the vehicle on its side, with the driver trapped, along the temporary barrier splitting two lanes on the left from three lanes to the right.

She was extricated from the vehicle, and eventually sent to Christiana Hospital via medical helicopter with extremity and possible internal injuries.

I-95 northbound was closed for over an hour to remove the woman from the vehicle, and get the vehicle off of the guardrail.
