MANOR, Texas — Tuesday marked Day 2 of the five-day 2025 Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter Work Project.
It’s the first time the annual Habitat for Humanity home building event has been held since the death of former President Carter, who spent decades volunteering with the nonprofit alongside the late former First Lady.
For the Carter Work Project's 39th year, Austin is playing host for the first time.
Just outside of Manor in the Whisper Valley development, more than 4,000 volunteers are spending five days building 25 homes.
Skyler Korgel, one of those future homeowners, was working Tuesday alongside them.
“I got to put up my front door myself,” Korgel said.
Korgel was putting in the work to turn his vision for his 30s into reality.
