SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Springdale Fire Department is set to bring forward a proposal at the city council meeting on Tuesday that would raise the costs associated with utilizing its ambulance service.

According to the proposal, the code has not been amended since 2014. If approved, the ordinance would nearly double the cost of EMS service in Springdale, depending on the treatment provided.

Springdale Fire Chief Blake Holte said that with its existing prices, the department's needs are not being met.

"The fact is, the cost of providing service today, our needs aren't met as a service provider, keeping costs low," Holte said.
