FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Attorneys general for Arkansas and Oklahoma are among more than a dozen calling for the U.S. Senate to protect Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits in a newly released letter.

Oklahoma AG Gentner Drummond and Arkansas AG Tim Griffin signed a letter written by Ohio AG Dave Yost, urging Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to "act immediately" to prevent more than 42 million Americans from losing SNAP benefits.

"Congress can stop the threat right now by passing a clean continuing resolution that keeps essential services funded and protects those who rely on them. You have the power to prevent a crisis that is entirely avoidable," Yost's letter said.
