CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A week before Election Day, the Virginia House of Delegates' 89th District race is sucking up PAC money like no other.
It is an open district seat with no incumbent running, and together, the two candidates have raised in excess of $5 million in political contributions. The latest financial filings hit Tuesday.
According to the Virginia Political Access Project, or VPAP, the 89th District seat, which includes parts of Chesapeake and Suffolk, is one of the most expensive House of Delegate races in Virginia, and is the most expensive here in Hampton Roads, with the two candidates raising more than $5.4 million.
Attorney Kacey Carnegie has raised more than $3.7 million, with the House Democratic Caucus giving her a stunning $1.028 million. Carnegie declined to meet
