MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A man was sentenced to two decades in prison after he pleaded guilty in a deadly shooting at a Memphis motel two years ago, according to the Shelby County District Attorney's Office.

The DA's office said Monday that Calvin Mitchell, 35, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a 20-year prison sentence. The shooting happened in 2023 at the Elvis Presley Blvd. Inn on Elvis Presley Boulevard, the agency said.

The DA's office said Mitchell shot the victim following argument at the motel.

"Family of the victim was present in court and supported the plea," the DA's office said.
