TOLEDO, Ohio — Starbucks workers in Bowling Green joined a nationwide push Tuesday night, rallying outside the Wooster Street store to demand what they call a fair union contract.

Employees and supporters gathered as part of a coordinated effort by Starbucks Workers United, the union representing thousands of baristas across the country. The group says negotiations with the company have been ongoing since March 2024.

“Today we are doing a practice picket,” said barista and organizer Emmi Marks, who’s part of Starbucks Workers United. “We are ready to do whatever it takes to get this contract settled, including striking, if that’s what it takes.”

Marks said workers are asking for better wages, more consistent scheduling and stronger on-the-job protections.
