COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department (PRCS) will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Duck Lake restoration project in Monument Valley Park.
The event takes place at 11 a.m. on Thursday at 959 Glen Avenue, near the Heritage Garden.
According to city officials, crews rebuilt the lake with a stone cap and a new aeration system, cleaned and restored the original stonework on the historic levee wall, and converted bluegrass turf to native vegetation supported by a new irrigation system.
The city said crews also added four new flower beds and improved access to the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail from both the north and south ends of the lake.
