Shillong, Oct 29: AICC in charge for Meghalaya, Dr A Chellakumar, has ruled out any possibility of replacing Vincent Pala as the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president, saying there is no vacancy in the position.

Dr Chellakumar defended Pala’s leadership, saying that because somebody left the Congress party, it does not mean there is a failure of leadership. He added that those who leave the party are often driven by personal interests and that the Congress is not here to fix a prize for some individuals.

Dr Chellakumar praised Pala, saying he is a loyal and dedicated Congressman who has served as a minister in the Union government and is working hard as PCC president.
