A Grade 12 student from Gladmar Regional School is gaining national and international recognition for her work in science and global advocacy, all while being a provincial curling champion and planning for a unique career in service.
Amy Fradette, who was recently recognized by the South East Cornerstone Public School Division's Board of Education, has had a busy year. Her journey into the spotlight began with a practical problem on her family's farm: what to do with waste wool.
“My little sister has a small flock of sheep,” Fradette explained. “We didn't really do anything with her wool after we sheared it, we just threw it away. After I was talking to some of our neighbours who also keep sheep, I found out they did the same thing.”
This observation sparked an idea for her science fair
