Krispy Kreme makes its Minnesota comeback this November.

The multinational donut and coffee chain closed its doors in Minnesota in 2008, though it still had many fans. An enterprising college student found success in 2019 driving to Iowa — reportedly where the closest Krispy Kreme is — to buy hundreds of donuts and resell them to Twin Cities-area customers. Krispy Kreme initially told him to stop, but later allowed him to continue.

Now, the drive for fresh, warm donuts will be a bit shorter for many Minnesotans.

In a news release, Krispy Kreme announced it would open a location in Fridley at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

The Fridley store will sell donuts in store, via drive-thru, and through the Krispy Kreme app for pick-up or delivery. The 12,000-square-foot shop will also produce do
