SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. — A woman is dead after a shooting early Wednesday night in Simpsonville, Kentucky.

At about 12:40 a.m., Simpsonville Police Department responded to a shots-fired call in the 200 block of Buck Creek Road near Kingbrook Parkway in Simpsonville, according to a news release.

Officers on scene found a woman dead with a gunshot wound, authorities say.

Shelby County EMS also responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead.

Investigators believe this is an "isolated incident" and are awaiting autopsy results from the Shelby County Coroner's Office.

This incident is being investigated as a homicide, Simpsonville police said. No additional information was given by police at this time.
