New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo’s season-ending injuries included not only a dislocated ankle but also a fibula fracture and deltoid ligament rupture, NFL Network reported Wednesday.
Skattebo sustained the injuries to his lower right leg midway through the second quarter in Sunday’s 28-20 road loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
He was transported to a Philadelphia-area hospital and underwent surgery before being discharged on Monday. The team placed him on injured reserve on Tuesday.
“He’s got a road ahead of him,” Giants coach Brian Daboll said Monday. “I’m not going to get into the particulars, but (surgery) all went well. He’s recovering, and obviously he’ll be missed, but on the road to recovery.”
According to Wednesday’s report, Skattebo’s injuries have a six-month
