WASHINGTON — E.A. Sween Company is recalling more than 127,000 pounds of its BBQ pulled pork sandwiches due to potential contamination with plastic pieces, which poses a choking hazard.
According to a Food and Drug Administration notice published Oct. 27, the company issued the recall for 127,887 pounds of its Deli Express BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich. The recall was prompted by multiple consumer complaints about plastic fragments found in the product. The Minnesota-based company said the plastic originated from the gallon bottles of barbecue sauce used in production.
The sandwiches were sold nationwide and in Guam through convenience stores, grocery stores and mass retailers between Jan. 16 and Oct. 23. The recalled pork sandwiches were also shipped to the Department of Defense, according t
