TEXARKANA, Ark. (KSLA) - Harvest Regional Food Bank received financial support to continue its Healthy Food Box Prescription program as federal funding remains limited.
The food bank was one of six area nonprofits in Texarkana to benefit from grants issued through Christus Health System.
“The goal of this program is to use food as medicine. It is the whole concept that food is medicine,” Camille Wrinkle, of Harvest Food Bank, said.
Chara Abrams, who works with Christus Health, said the organizations were selected based on community needs assessments.
“These groups are identified through the priorities that come of our community health needs assessment and our community health implement health plan,” Abrams said.
Over $305,000 in grant money was shared between the six partnering agen
