A coastal flood advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 2:41 p.m. valid for Thursday between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. for Queens and Nassau County.
"One to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline," states the weather service. "Locally moderate coastal flooding is possible across the most vulnerable locations along the shoreline in Southern Nassau. There is also potential of minor coastal flooding during high tide on Friday morning high tide."
According to the weather service, "If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property."
