On the surface, literacy has a simple definition — the ability to read and write. And yet, this description fails to encompass its true importance and power.

Literacy isn't just a tool for English majors and other academics; it's a foundational skill for a person's ability to think critically and navigate complex situations. With this in mind, local educators in the Madison, Chester and Oldham-Ramona-Rutland school districts are attempting to combat national trends in declining literacy rates by providing students the attention and resources necessary for future success. ×
