The LCBO has been fined $80,000 after a worker was critically injured during a lift truck training session at its south London warehouse more than three years ago.

The incident occurred in June 2022 at the LCBO warehouse at 955 Wilton Grove Rd., the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development said Wednesday.

An investigation found the worker, operating a powered pallet lift truck for the first time, lost control while practicing turns and crashed into a steel storage rack, the ministry said in a statement.

As a result, the worker sustained a critical injury, the ministry said.

At the time, the training was led by a seasonal warehouse worker who had experience using the equipment but was not certified to train others, the ministry said.
