PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) - Democrat Michael Cashman and Republican Brent Davison are making a final pitch to voters ahead of Tuesday’s special election to fill the open 115th District Assembly seat.
Immigration has been in the spotlight after a proposal to build an ICE detention facility in the Town of Plattsburgh near the former Air Force base.
Cashman, who serves as the town’s supervisor, says he supports that project, but nothing larger. “I do not support a large detention center here in the Town of Plattsburgh, and it is going through the planning board. So, I encourage the community to follow that project as it moves through the local government project, but I do not support a large ICE detention here in Plattsburgh,” he said.
