SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Judy Stratman started working at WNAX in 1974, during a tough time in her life.
“We had lost a child at our house. And I was just very despondent about that. So I kind of went from being an extrovert to being in introvert. I didn’t want to see anybody,” said Judy
The station’s farm director at the time Gene Williams. He was from Judy’s hometown of Crofton, Nebraska.
“When he had his class reunion, he asked one of his classmates, who happened to be my neighbor, how I was doing. And she said, she needs to get out of the house,” said Judy.
Gene offered her a job as a secretary. Despite being hesitant about it, and knowing nothing about radio, Judy took it. And soon, she was in front of the mic.
