CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Clarksville woman is worried about her family after Hurricane Melissa pummeled Jamaica on Tuesday.

With sustained winds of 130 miles per hour, Melissa is projected to be one of the most powerful storms to ever make landfall.

“My country means a lot to me,” Omali Longwell said. “And I have quite a [number] of aunts and uncles that still live there. And that's where my little bit of the unnerving feeling comes in.”

She said it has been unnerving to see powerful wind and storm surge take over Jamaica, as Hurricane Melissa's eye hovered over the island for hours.
