BRIDGEPORT, Ohio (WTRF) — The Bridgeport Police Department is warning residents and local businesses about a scam involving someone falsely claiming to collect donations on behalf of the department.
Police say the individual has contacted members of the community and local businesses asking for money. Officials confirmed that this is not a legitimate fundraiser.
The department thanked the public for its continued support and reminded residents to always verify the source before making any donations.
In a separate statement, police addressed a rumor that a body was found behind the Fat Apple. Authorities confirmed that the claim is false.
