OBERLIN, Ohio — Residents in six Lorain County communities will decide on Nov. 4 whether to continue funding emergency medical services.

Voters in the Central Lorain County Ambulance District will consider Issue 19, a replacement levy for ambulance and EMS operations. The district covers approximately 95 square miles, encompassing Oberlin, Camden Township, Kipton, New Russia Township, Henrietta Township and Pittsfield Township. EMS staffing and operations are currently provided by the district through a contract with Mercy Allen Hospital.

The proposed three-year levy would be set at 1.75 mills, replacing the existing 2.06-mill levy that voters approved in 2023. While the millage rate appears lower, the measure would actually generate additional revenue due to increased property value
