PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A 9-year-old child was treated for minor injuries after a coyote grabbed their foot while they were playing in the yard of a home in Portland’s Alameda neighborhood on Thursday evening, Oct. 23.
According to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), the child and their 3-year-old sibling were playing hide-and-seek around 6:15 p.m. when the coyote approached. The animal grabbed the older child’s foot, which was only covered by a sock. The child was able to pull free and run, but the coyote briefly chased them until the child’s father shouted and scared it off.
The child was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.
