NEWTON, Mass. —
A Star Market in Newton, Massachusetts, closed down on Tuesday due to demolition work that released asbestos into the building, according to city officials.
The store at 33 Austin St. was closed at approximately 4:30 p.m. to allow the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection an opportunity to investigate any possible contamination.
The Star Market will reopen when and if any asbestos is found, removed, and/or contained, according to the Newton Health and Human Services Department.
