LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - On Wednesday, the Lansing School District celebrated its clean energy efforts, which are being recognized by the Michigan Green Ribbon Schools Program.
The event took place at the solar array complex right next to The Hill Vocational School on Wise Road.
The Green Ribbon Schools program honors schools that promote health and wellness as well as reducing carbon emissions.
“The power that we’re creating here, we’re able to, you know, power our buses and things like that. So we’re really proud of this large solar array, as well as the many other solar arrays we’ve been putting on the roofs of our schools,” said Superintendent Ben Schuldiner.
The district says their efforts are not stopping there, and that new construction will continue to focus on green energy.
