MADISON, Wis. -- David Blake is the owner of David's Jamaican Cuisine in Monona.
As of Wednesday, Blake is waiting to hear back from his family in Jamaica.
"We've been trying. We're getting a little signal, but not a good signal. It's not, coming back quite yet," said Blake.
On Tuesday, Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Melissa as a category five hurricane. At least 12 people are dead after Melissa travels through the Caribbean.
"It's very hard , very hard . It's been the worse on record, 175 year . And that's the worst one on record," said Blake.
Before opening his restaurant, Blake lived in Jamaica. A lot of his family members still live on the island.
"I am from Westmoreland and they got hit pretty hard," said Blake.
