AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - After years of planning and community input, officials are moving forward with major upgrades to May Park that neighbors say are long overdue.

Augusta’s parks department is in the middle of an audit as commissioners debate whether or not they spend too much money on parks that many people don’t go to.

May Park has been waiting for improvements after nearly $2 million in grant money was approved two years ago.

It’s all through ARPA funding, the American Rescue Plan Act Grant Project.

The grant helps improve neighborhood outcomes in disproportionately impacted communities.
