Remembering specific details from nearly 50 years ago is no easy task — but for those who first encountered the aftermath of a brutal double murder, some memories have not faded.
On Thursday, some of the first people who came across the bodies of Suzanne Armstrong and Sue Bartlett in their home on Easey Street in Collingwood gave evidence in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court.
Perry Kouroumblis, who was 17 at the time, has been charged with the women's deaths and is facing a committal hearing to determine whether the case will go to trial .
The victims had been stabbed dozens of times, and police alleged Ms Armstrong was also raped.
Prosecutors allege the killings occurred sometime between January 10 and January 13, 1977, and that Mr Kouroumblis's DNA was found at the scene.
