SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (13 News) - The Sierra Vista Unified School District hosted a town hall on Wednesday for the community to hear about the possibility of the district consolidating two schools.
Back in April, 13 News reported on SVUSD facing a $4 million deficit for the 2025-2026 school year.
And while the district will likely be able to cut that number in half with the changes that have already been discussed, more is required, and the answer being proposed is consolidation.
Over the past 10 years, the district has lost more than 2,000 students, but it is a problem facing schools nationwide.
Interim Superintendent Terri Romo is looking to consolidate Bella Vista Elementary with Pueblo Del Sol Elementary at the beginning of the next school year.
