Florida Tech Alumni association gives De Freese top recognition
Duane E. De Freese, executive director of the Indian River Lagoon Council and alum of Florida Tech graduate, recently was honored by the Florida Tech alumni association’s Jerome P. Keuper. Distinguished Alumni Award. The honor goes to an alum that “honors the university’s legacy of excellence.”
The IRL Council is a special district of Florida, and host of the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program.
De Freese, who also is an officer with the Florida Ocean Alliance, received his master’s and doctorate degrees in biology from Florida Tech. He received is bachelor’s degree in zoology from the University of Rhode Island.
Keuper, the award’s namesake, was a physicist and the founder and first president of Brevard Engineer
