Don’t just throw more money at DMPS
A recent letter made the lazy quip: “You don’t get something for nothing.” This counters another, I think more thoughtful, quip, that the best things in life are free. Love, reliable friends, community, should all be based on something other than money. Spending is not a measure of human well-being.
More tangibly, people are flat wrong when they claim spending more money is always the solution. Consider food and health. Cheaper food can be much healthier than junk food. Frozen vegetables are much cheaper than fast food. I eat a lot of dried beans, vegetables, and condiments. A meal might cost $1.50.
