CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) - West Texas A&M University's College of Engineering is set to host its annual "Punkin' Chunkin'" competition on Thursday morning, featuring students hurling pumpkins in front of Old Main.

During the annual competition, students design human-powered launchers to toss pumpkins toward designated targets. In 2025, WT officials said students will be launching their gourds along Captain Donald Blair Street, the street leading into the circle drive in front of Old Main.

Officials said the first pumpkin is scheduled to fly Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. on the west lawn of the Engineering building.

In 2024, the winners of the "Punkin' Chunkin'" included Allyssa Schulz, Hayden Pringle, Payton Hunt, Nina Potestas and Aidan Hendrickson, all freshman and sophomore engineer
