In an announcement every bit as surprising as a morning sunrise, the Pirates on Thursday named Konnor Griffin their Honus Wagner Player of the Year, capping three days of minor league awards.

Griffin split the season between Low-A Bradenton, High-A Greensboro and Double-A Altoona and finished as the unanimous top prospect in the sport. Baseball America has already named him its Minor League Player of the Year.

In his first full minor league season, the 19-year-old appeared in 122 games, hitting .333 with a .941 OPS. Griffin, picked ninth overall in 2024, compiled 21 home runs, 23 doubles, 94 RBIs, 65 stolen bases and 117 runs scored.

That stolen base total was the largest for a Pirates prospect since 2007, while Griffin finished second throughout MiLB in runs scored.
