Police have launched a manhunt after a girl was assaulted in Cumbernauld .

The 14-year-old was approached by a man who grabbed her wrist and tried to pull her away on a path close to St Maurice’s High School.

The girl managed to get away and told her parents. The teenager was approached by a man, described as being in his 50s, on a path between North Road and St Maurice’s Pond at around 4pm yesterday (Wednesday, October 29).

Police said extensive enquiries have been launched as they urges anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to come forward.

The man is described as white, around 50 years old, around 5ft 10in tall with short grey hair, shaved with a flick at the front. He was wearing a black rain jacket and spoke in a Scottish accent, and may have had a lisp.
