Nurses in San Ramon joined hundreds of colleagues across California in walking off the job Thursday for a one-day strike.
Nurses at San Ramon Regional Medical Center and five other Tenet Healthcare hospitals across the state were participating in the strike. The California Nurses Association, which represents 3,100 nurses in California, has been negotiating with Tenet Healthcare for months.
The nurses were slated to strike at San Ramon Medical Center; Doctors Hospital Manteca; Doctors Medical Center in Modesto; Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock; Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs; and Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree.
The nurses say there has been little movement in the talks on key issues, including better staffing and retention of experienced nurses.
