Around two-thirds of Americans disapprove of the demolition of the East Wing for President Donald Trump’s planned ballroom, a new poll revealed.

According to a Yahoo/YouGov poll , 61% of Americans disapprove of the concept of a ballroom , which is set to stretch 90,000 square feet. Only 25% approve of the idea as part of the White House complex.

The construction of the ballroom has sparked widespread backlash from critics after crews were first spotted tearing down the East Wing at the beginning of last week. Trump had previously vowed to not “interfere” with the historic building’s existing structure, recently describing the project as “completely separate from the White House itself.”
